Rabbi Qasha Genard Lazar was born in the village of Sireh, Urmi and immigrated as a child to Sydney, Australia.  As a youth his strengths of ministry began to show through his participation in choir, youth group, and hosting the radio program.  He was ordained as a deacon at the age of twenty by His Grace Bishop Mar Meelis Zaia.  While a deacon, he assisted Mar Meelis as his secretary and led St. Mary’s youth group and choir.  During this time he also began conducting Bible studies and preaching.  He was ordained a priest on December 23rd, 2003 by His Beatitude Mar Narsia De Baz and His Grace Bishop Mar Meelis; he first served as a priest at Saints Peter and Paul Parish.  Qasha Genard established St. George Mission Parish in Sydney, Australia and later St. Mary’s Mission in Sacramento.  After immigrating to the United States, he served for five years as priest of Mar Zaia Cathedral. He has been serving as the priest of Mar Addai Parish in Turlock, California since 2019.
